TIN CAN BAY GOLF RESULTS FOR THE WEEK ENDING 29th AUGUST 2010

Once again the Veterans had a good field of 92 for their Single Stableford event played in 2 divisions. Lyn Watson was the Division I winner with a fine 43 while Ray Harris was the runner up on 41 and John Gordon came 3rd (after a c/b) on 40. Division II was won by P. King with a great 46, M. Layton the runner up (45) and Peter Coppin came 3rd after a c/b on 42. Pin Shots: Division I - 5th Gordon Smith, 7th Cec Boughton, 11th Ray Harris & 13th Denis Madden, Division II – 5th Scott McGhie, 7th Les Lynch, 11th Peter Cahill & 13th N. Spring.

Karen Hehir, Kay Brooke & Sue Portch were the trophy donors for the first round of the Ladies 72 hole Single Stroke Club Championships. Lin Groombridge was the A Grade winner with 70, Sandra Reibel the runner up 72, B Grade winner was Shirley Dickson with a fine 67, runner up was Donna Hutchinson 68 and C Grade winner was Pat James with 71 and June Blanch the runner up 72. Pin Shots: Division I – 5th & 13th Helen Joyce, 7th Sue Portch, Division II 5th Tina Guy, 7th Marilyn Richards and 13th Shirley Dickson. The ball rundown went to 76.

Cheryl Cope & Pam Alexander were the trophy donors for the second round of the Ladies Club Championships. A Grade winner was Janet Reibel with 72, runner up Sandra Reibel with 73, B Grade winner Ros Wheeler with a great 64, runner up Lyn Bade 69, C Grade winner Jenny Mayne 66, Ena Birse was the runner up with 75. Pin Shots: Div I – 5th Lyn Wong, 13th Adele Hannen and Div II - 5th Bobbie Watson. The ball rundown went to 77.

The Thursday 9 hole competition was won by Daniel Johannsen with 27 while Bevan Campbell had 29 and was the runner up and Tim Major won the putting with 12. Pin Shots: 5A Mick Low, 5B Neville Anderson, 7A Lyn Watson, 7B Bevan Campbell.

Warren Morris had 32 to win Friday’s Chicken Run on a c/b from Les Lynch. Peter McCulloch, Jack Frost, Steve Hewitt, Cliff Moretto, Dennis James, Lyn Glenholmes, David Armstrong and Ray Harris (35) all managed to take a chook home.

The Club provided the trophies for Saturday’s 4BBB Aggregate Stroke (Qualifying round for Men’s 4B Matchplay) and Single Stableford for Wallflowers. Cliff Moretto & Rod Reed won the c/b on 138 from Danny Grant & Chris Elliott. Helen Gordon won the wallflowers with 37. Pin Shots: 5th M. Phillips, 7th Neil Low, 9th Steve Dickson, 11th Tim Major, 13th Cliff Moretto and 3rd on 15th Mark Lumby. There were 76 in the field and the ball rundown went to 147/35.

Mark Hehir was the generous trophy donor for Sunday’s 4BBB Stableford. Laurie Raeburn & Lyn Wong had 48 points to win from Ray & Val Brown who had 47. Pin Shots: 5th Lyn Watson, 7th Laurie Raeburn, 9th Shane Anderson, 11th David Schaper, 13th & Men’s 2nd on 16th Tim Major and Ladies 3rd on 1st Ros Wheeler. There were 70 in the field and the ball rundown went to 44.

CONGRATULATIONS to Beulah Webster & Marilyn Richards who represented Tin Can Bay at the District 4BBB Stableford event held in Gympie - they came home with a great WIN. They will now go on to represent the District, at Pelican Waters, against the rest of the State - so BEST OF LUCK from all of us. ANOTHER very good result for Tin Can Bay on Sunday when Steve Dickson & Barrie Brooke came 2nd representing Tin Can Bay at Zone level in a 4BBB Stableford – WELL DONE.

Next Saturday is the Men’s Monthly Medal/Single Stroke with wallflowers welcome and Sunday is a Single Stableford. The Ladies Open day is on Friday the 10th September.
